Victoria became involved in music at a young age, participating eagerly in her elementary school glee club. She looked forward to 6th grade when she finally got to join band and play the flute. She threw herself into it and hasn’t looked back, though after a trip to Ireland she now dreams of becoming an Irish flute and tin whistle expert. Through her schooling years, her most influential teachers have included Alison Gillon and Sarah Ambrose. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Georgia State University. Additionally, she has participated in masterclasses with professionals such as Julien Beaudiment (former principal at LA Philharmonic), Christina Smith (principal at Atlanta Symphony Orchestra), and Viviana Guzman (international touring artist) to name a few.

Victoria has also been heavily involved in the marching arts since high school. Desperate to march drum corps, she learned to play trumpet (special thanks to her husband, boyfriend at the time) and auditioned for Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, where she then spent the summers of 2011 and 2012 and became a World Class finalist. Each summer and fall since then has been spent teaching high school marching bands. In 2016, she joined the staff at Homestead High School in Cupertino and teaches music (primarily with the woodwinds) and visual, while occasionally assisting with the colorguard’s movement skills. She spent a portion of the summer of 2018 with the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the visual staff.

An avid performer, Victoria has a passion for moving audiences through her expressiveness. Her performance style has been described as if she was “giving a gift” to the listener. She currently enjoys playing with the Foothill Symphonic Winds and Foothill Chamber groups. Her work as a performer and teacher is very fulfilling, and she takes pride in the commitment to fine detail in her students’ playing as well as her own. She believes in teaching strong fundamentals and finding the best way to teach each student according to their individual needs. Assistance with achieving their personal goals is enthusiastically given. Discussions of goal setting and progress are frequent, and gaining musical experience outside of lessons is highly encouraged. She hopes to inspire her same love and appreciation for music and performance in others.
